The Department of Electricity and Energy has advertised four permanent vacancies under Public Service Vacancy Circular 28 of 2026, published by the DPSA on 7 August 2026.

1. Director: SOC Governance and Legal Assurance

Reference Number: DEE2026/015
Salary: R1,317,384 per annum – Level 13, all-inclusive package
Location: Pretoria

This is the most senior position in this vacancy batch and is aimed at experienced professionals in corporate governance and legal assurance.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Business Administration or Legal Studies (NQF Level 7)
  • SMS Pre-entry Certificate (Nyukela)
  • At least 5 years’ experience at middle/senior managerial level in Legal or Corporate Governance
  • Strong knowledge of corporate governance
  • Knowledge of company law
  • Knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)

Key Duties:

The successful candidate will develop standardised SOC governance review and reporting instruments, lead governance assurance projects, provide technical advisory services relating to the appointment and dismissal of SOC Board Members and draft legal opinions on shareholder interface processes.

2. Administrative Support and Coordination Officer

Salary: R932,292 per annum – Level 11, all-inclusive package
Location: Pretoria

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Public Administration (NQF Level 6)
  • Experience in government and/or the NGO/CBO sector is an advantage
  • Experience with parliamentary or legislative processes is an advantage

Key Duties:

The successful candidate will manage administrative activities within the Office of the Executive Authority, liaise with internal and external stakeholders and provide Cabinet and Executive Council support services.

3. Assistant Director: Energy Statistics

Reference Number: DEE2026/017
Salary: R605,742 per annum – Level 10
Location: Pretoria

This position may be particularly relevant to graduates and professionals with a background in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics or Data-related fields.

Requirements:

  • Advanced Diploma or Degree in Statistics, Economics, Quantitative Management, Mathematics or Datametrics (NQF Level 7)
  • At least 3 years’ relevant experience
  • Understanding of data sourcing and collection techniques
  • Understanding of data quality frameworks

Key Duties:

Responsibilities include collecting data for planning and reporting, ensuring data quality assurance and control, compiling monthly reports and compiling energy commodity flows covering areas such as coal, electricity, petroleum products and natural gas.

4. Nuclear Energy Officer: Nuclear Safety, Liabilities and Emergency Management

Salary: R413,001 per annum – Level 08
Location: Pretoria

This is the position with the lowest experience requirement in the current vacancy batch.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Natural Science, majoring in Physical Sciences and Chemistry (NQF Level 7)
  • At least 1 year’s experience in the science field
  • Knowledge of nuclear policy and legislation

Key Duties:

The successful candidate will consolidate nuclear safety, liabilities and emergency management information, assist with the implementation of Nuclear Emergency projects and provide secretariat support to the Directorate: Safety and Emergency Management.
