Department of Defence Vacancies 2026: Cleaner, Groundsman & General Store Assistant Posts (No Experience Needed)

Last Updated: 10 July 2026

The Department of Defence (DoD) has announced another batch of entry-level government vacancies through Public Service Vacancy Circular 24 of 2026, published by the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) on 10 July 2026. These permanent positions include Cleaner, Groundsman, and General Store Assistant posts across several military health units in Pretoria, Gqeberha, Kimberley, and Potchefstroom.

One of the biggest advantages of these vacancies is that they require only an ABET qualification, meaning applicants do not need a Matric certificate to qualify. In addition, no previous work experience is required, making these positions an excellent opportunity for first-time job seekers and individuals looking to secure stable employment within the South African public service.

Working in the Department of Defence provides more than just a salary—it offers valuable workplace experience, structured employment, and the opportunity to build a long-term career in government. Entry-level support staff play an important role in ensuring military health facilities and offices operate efficiently by maintaining clean environments, caring for government property, and supporting daily administrative and logistical operations.

These vacancies are spread across multiple centres, allowing applicants to choose positions closest to where they live. Before applying, carefully check the reference number, location, and application email address for your preferred vacancy, as each advertised post requires its own separate application.
